how it started

it started with walks. i'd go for 5, 10, even 20 km walks around my area in dubai — exploring nature, understanding the surrounding area. when i'd mapped everything out within a 4-hour range (both ways from home), i got tired of it. i'd covered everything.

so i started running. over time i got faster, and my preferred distance became the 10k. all of this was across 2023 and 2024. i took a break and picked it back up in october 2025.

in july 2024 i got a bike — and suddenly had so much more range. i mapped out different routes and covered over 1,000 km in my first 6 months, even though riding in the uae summer heat with an insane uv index isn't the most comfortable thing in the world.

my preferred distance is the 10k. i started running seriously in 2023, took a break, and came back to it in october 2025. current 5k pb is 19:06.

i cycle 30–120 km per week, typically riding along the metro line to different parts of dubai and back. my favourite route goes from home to the dubai mall / burj khalifa area and back — about 50 km round trip.
